Appalachian State University is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Boone, N.C. At an elevation of 3,333 feet, Boone began as a frontier outpost named after pioneer Daniel Boone, who first explored the area in the 1760s. Since that time, the area has attracted those seeking natural beauty, adventure and learning.

Appalachian is a member of the 16-campus University of North Carolina system. The university offers a challenging and stimulating learning experience for nearly 17,000 students.
