Virginia Tech Too Much For App State in 2011 Season Opener

Behind a career-high 264 yards from quarterback DeAndre Presley, top-seeded Appalachian State University routed No. 21 Western Illinois in the second round playoffs at snow-covered Kidd Brewer Stadium.

App State took their game to The Swamp to challenge the Florida Gators.

No. 3 Appalachian State University raced out to 38-0 lead and cruised to a record sixth-consecutive Southern Conference championship by dismantling No. 4 Wofford, 43-13, on Saturday afternoon at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

The Mountaineers earned a 34-31 win over the Elon Phoenix in front of a record home crowd at The Rock. Deandre Presley put together another prolific offensive performance to lead the Apps to their fifth consecutive victory.

The Mountaineers made the most of their trip to Birmingham by claiming a 35-17 victory over Samford. Appalachian snagged four interceptions from the Bulldogs to help the Mountaineer offense rack up 459 yards.

Top-ranked Appalachian State University jumped out to a 24-0 lead less than three minutes into the second quarter and cruised to a 44-16 win over visiting North Carolina Central.

Appalachian State routed visiting Jacksonville 45-14 in front of 28,708 fans at Kidd Brewer Stadium in the 2010 home opener.

In the 2010 season opener, Appalachian State extended its Southern Conference winning streak to 21 by overcoming a 35-14 fourth-quarter deficit. Appalachian trailed by 21 points with less than 14 minutes to go and scored four touchdowns in less than eight minutes to beat Chattanooga 42-41.
